1Sims 3 Patch help is now here! I’ve been working hard and long on setting up a community area here at Sims Globe where you can discuss all things related to The Sims 3. We have been receiving a lot of messages asking for help regarding patches and errors over time and believe that we should begin working on a help desk system which will allow you all to get the aid you need. Please note that we are doing this all out of our own spare time and the only thing we ask for in return is that you just keep coming back – the only support that we need is your recognition. A new patch just got released for The Sims 3 and all expansion packs. It doesn’t look like much of a change but don’t be fooled for the short amount of changes, they may still prove to cause problems. Fingers crossed it all works out well, let us know if you have any issues.

Ambitions Updates
- The Poltergeist Haunting job will now properly complete when a Ghost Hunter is performing the job on lots containing hot tubs.
General Updates
- Corrected an issue that prevented launching the game from expansion pack or stuff pack desktop shortcuts for certain computer configurations.

Hey there, I am sorry but it is hard to keep up with these comments, I specified in the post that if you want individual help you can post in the Bug Busting Team group we have set up just for that. It is a lot easier to manage there and will help other people find solutions to theirs problems with ease instead of having to search through all these comments.

Is it true that you only have to crack the most recent expansion pack to the base game? Like for instance, lets say I have installed all the expansions but the only one that I actually crack to the base game is the latest expansion pack. Will all the other expansions still work?

Hi, I used revo to get rid of all of my sims data on my laptop, and then installed my sims 3 game, I updated it and it let’s me get onto the game to play it then just crashes and says ‘yours sims3 has stopped working, windows will notify you when there is a solution’ but then it’s just left like that, Please help?!

I just bought Sims 3 it was working fine at first but them it started crashing the screen will go black and sometimes it will return back to the game but most most of the time i have to shut my pc down whenever this occurs im either in building mode or moving the screen im pretty sure my computer is compatible with the game. I just did a new update to update my Sims and now it says that I can’t play the Sims because it is not compatible with the expansions packs. I DON’T EVEN HAVE ANY EXPANSION PACKS. Hi Nick, hope you can help… Prior to this problem, I had the Sims 3 base game, Ambitions expansion, and EA Download Manager.
Yesterday, I did 3 things: downloaded the latest version of the patch (the “Game Update” part of my game launcher says “Your game is up to date”), installed Pets expansion via DVD, and downloaded Origin (top of the window says Origin Beta). I guess Origin replaced EADM. Last night, I was able to play for an hour. I tried to run the game today and I ran into a few errors. I’ve been trying to troubleshoot it for the past 3 hours with no success. I tried un-installing and re-installing Origin and Pets. I couldn’t really figure out how to un-install the patch though…
Anyway, the error I would get is: open Origin, click Play, my status gets changed to something like “Playing Sims”, then the launcher opens and I click Play on the launcher… which leads to “Unable to connect to Origin” (even though I was directed there FROM Origin?!?!). I click Okay and click Play again, then the screen goes black for a second as if the game will start, but then I get an error message: “Unable to start game. Service initialization failed (0x0175d824)”.
While this is happening, I’m also getting a (possibly related? possibly unrelated?) pop-up from ATI Catalyst Control Center trying to get me to update something on my video card, but I can’t actually complete this because it asks me to insert a disk, which I obviously don’t have.
After trying for 3 hours, I give up and I just want to play my old version (Base game + Ambitions), so I un-install Pets and Origin for the 3rd time and try to run the previous version… and now it says something like “EA Download Manager not found”. FML.
I do not have any mods. Really really hope you can help!!! I just want to play, I don’t care which version! Thanks!

So I have a Mac and I just bought The Sims 3 with no expansions. Whenever I try to click play it says I need to download a patch, but there are no patches to download. I can click yes or no and it still says I need to download the patch. It also won’t let me continue to the game at all because of this. Is there anyway you could help?

I uploaded sims 3 and sims 3 pets on my computer. I started playing sims pets and it randomly froze up. I exited out of the game, and then I tried to open it back up. The launcher comes up and then it says updates are available. I already updated it like 3 times. It stopped doing that now though. But when I click the play button, the little circular mouse thing just sits there and it says the program is not responding. I do not know why. PLEASE HELP

I did download The Sims 3 with many expansion packs and it did worked, but one day I browse the Internet and I found the updates for The Sims 3, you know, patches. I was so happy cuz I thought that this will be something new in The Sims 3, so I updated at least 5 patches and try to launch my Sims, but they didn’t work! It says: Please insert the CD The Sims 3 Town Life Stuff before proceeding. I have The Sims 3 Town Life Stuff but it doesn’t read it. What should I do?

I downloaded the new patch and i can get into the game, but everything is off. The computer was on the floor and the chair to the desk it invisible. The kids sleep sideways and when the adults sleep they freeze and don’t get up. These are just a couple things i’ve noticed so far in the last 10 minutes of playing. Can i undo this patch because it was working just fine until i updated it.

I have the Sims3 installed, inclusive of
-late night
-world adventures
- fast lane stuff
-outdoor living stuff
- high end loft stuff
i have Pets now and can’t install it as it says i need an update. i clicked the ‘yes’ button to update and it failed so i downloaded the update patch 1.26.89 as instructed on another forum but this patch update fails to recognize previously installed versions and wont update.
i’m not particularly computer savvy and have gotten this far with the help of my other half and the internet.
What’s my next step?

I need help! Ok so the first time I installed the game it was fine no problem, but then the update woulndnt work so I went into my coputer and found another way to play the game but then one day I got sick of it not working so I tried to uninstall the whole game so I did then I reinstalled it but the game wouldnt anctually let me play so I uninstalled it and did the same thing again so now im trying to uninstall it but it says its uninstalled but it actually is not HELP! This is the second game I’ve bought I dont want to get another one! :(

Whenever I start up The Sims 3 everything loads fine until I start the game, the bottom control bar is missing! I can’t click anything either! I can’t leave the lot and go to the Map view and I can’t see the bottom control bar with the traits, ambitions, job information, etc. help please!

Right when I opened sims 3 generations, this thing came up and said new store contenet patch available. There is a new patch for your sims 3 store content. Would you like to download the latest patch? I tried clicking no & it wont let me. It will only let me go to the internet. It wont even let me X out of the sims 3 & I have to restart my computer everytime. It has never done this before & I have had this game for about 3 days now. I have the base version of the sims 3, and the traveling one. I bought the night life, but since I loaded night life, I can’t get the base version or the traveling one to work. When I open the launcher, in the bottom left corner, no matter what I do, it’s always highlighted on night life… I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that’s proved pointless. Any suggestions?

I have the Sims 3 & mods from TRS, late night, and generations; it update the patch to the lates version and now when i play the game, I can’t bring up the cheat window at all. I have windows vista, Should I uninstall everything and reinstal but don’t update the patch to see if it is that? I don’t care if i lost any work.

So last night I downloaded the latest patch for Sims 3, I played a bit and then saved. This morning I tried to play again and the program isnt even responding. It just sits there in limbo. I have all the games but pets. My problem is that I cant travel. It lets me play fine sometimes but i cant save it sometimes so i delete some things and then it saves. I just want to know how can I fix the problems i have with not being able to travel and not being able to save it sometimes. The error message that it gives me every time i says something about the view the readme but i dont know where to look.

I only have the base game of the Sims 3 and the other day I updated to the latest patch, or so it said (1.24). After that I started a new game, made new families and played for quite a while. I saved that game, and the next day when I went to play the sims again, it told me there was a “critical error” and that I had to “restart the application” to solve the problem. Now I am unable to use any of my saved games, and they are also set out differently in my saved games folder… Does anyone have a clue on how to fix this?

this is sort of different to the problem you guys are having but my launcher wont open and I tried opening through the ts3 thibg or whatever bit it just said “…side by side configuration is not correct…” and other stuff I can’t remember. Hi, Me again, it works for me now, but i had to wash the disc’s and Re-install the games, and re-start my computer after a install of 1 disc, it was a little annoying but im happy i got it fixed,. :)

ive just updated my sims 3 game ( ambitions) after the message repeatedly popped up. When it had completed i closed that screen and went on to attempt to open my game. I just bought The sims 3 World Adventures. I have a mac and I intsalled it, but when I updated it, it said ‘The sims 3 is up to date’ but it wouldn’t let me play it. I deleted the tag, and clicked World Adventures to open it, but then it came up with a little screen with the sims 3 logo and it keeps freezing with just the logo on my screen.

I have tried to install the patch but it gets almost all the way through and comes up with a message saying I need to try it again at a later date. I have tried to do it a number of times but without success. Every time I go to play I have to make sure I am not connected to the internet before I click to load up otherwise errors prevent me accessing the game at all.

I have a question – that may be stupid to someone else… I just bought sims 3 yesterday, and the player said i was up to date on the patches – but my version was lower. i bought the barnacle bay from the store come home follow the directions put in the redeem code and went to my account were you have the purchace options and befor i can hit the purchase options i have to retype my pass word even though im already logged in so retype password and it keeps bring it back to the sims store not the purchaace options and it wont let me go to purchase history am i doing something rong i keep typing my pass word and it wont let me get into purchase history so i can down lode it on my computer please help

I downloaded the patch some time ago, I just bought town life and went to install but Origin won’t let me install because it says I need to update it but I have, multiple times. Ive updated my game but the other day i logged on and my computer had a bug so my dad had to do system restore, i want to update my game again but im scared the same will happen again, and when i click to play the sims 3 it wont load the launcher just goes off and thats it :/

I have the base game (version 1.24), and whenever I open the launcher and click play, my screen turns black for a moment, as if the game is starting, but then a little error window pops up and says: “Unable to start game Service initialization failed (0x0175d824)”. My game has always worked perfectly on this computer and I don’t understand this at all, and I REALLY want to start playing again… My computer is really new so it’s not like it’s too slow or anything…

After the patch, I have had immediately problems with targetting sims. I can target them all at once and the game start mixing them up. If I try to change household, the menu disappears and then I can only look at my neighborhood and do nothing.

this is new to me but i just upaded my sims3 cuz the screen popped up so i did. well now my sims disappear after i tell them to do something. resetsim does not work i go to buy mode and i guess the menu bar disappears and sims act like they are still playing. i need help i can’t play my game for more than 2 min before this happens then have to shut it off

I just downloaded some stuff from the Sims Exchange, just some houses, clothes, furniture..etc.
So anyway, now the game wont work..it loads then goes back to my desktop and says “sims 3 is not responding” and the whole..end program thing. Im sure its the downloads doing it, because it worked fine before.

Hey, when i open my sims 3 launcher, it says i need to update my game to 1.22. When i click to update the game, it says the launcher has stopped working, and the patch cannot be uploaded. This is really frustrating as i want to buy Sims Generations, but know i cant if i don’t have the latest patch?

hi, ever since i installed this patch, it will not let me marry two sims. It will go as far as the confirmation of the new household, but after that it is stuck on the processing screen. There are no scratches on the disk, dont know what to do. really dont want to have to start again

I am so frustrated!!! My Sims 3 has been working perfectly until today. I updated to the newest patch, running Late Night, and now i am unable to finish loading it! I can do CAS and choose the house, but once I click on the check mark to start playing it stays on the screenshot overlooking the town/world and continues to play music. I have let it sit for several minutes and it never completes loading. HELP!!!!!!!

My sister has the Sims 3 and just did the latest update. She can open the game and choose a famiily but the whole house doesn’t load. Last night she spent a couple of hours trying to fix it but removing CC and uninstalling and re-installing the game and the same thing happens. Any ideas???

I have updated my sims 3 game launcher to the latest one available. However, it keeps saying i have not updated it!
So I updated it again, and the same thing still appears.
I’ve updated the game for 5 times in total, BUT THE SAME THING HAPPENS!

I’ve had generations since it came out and it was working fine, no problems at all, but now it wont load! i keep getting an error message appear, i contacted ea and they told me to run some program but it costs like £20 so i dont want to download it. i tried uninstalling everything but then the base game wouldnt re-install, it keeps asking me to ‘retry’ i googled this and it said its possibly because my laptop doesnt have the system requirments, but it installed fine over like a year ago? we tried it on 2 other laptops and it still didnt work.
i took the laptop back to a previous date so i have all my games but i STILL CANT PLAY! I have a pc

I have World Adventures…when I downloaded the update everything seemed to be fine until I go to another country. It appears that everything is going well, I collect loot & relics but when I return home everything is the same as when I left…meaning I dont have the relics and any skills I raised while away…they disappear and the biggest headache of all…is the duplicate sim! I have evicted this thing 4 times and every time I go somewhere she comes back when I return. CAN ANYONE HELP???? I have uninstalled/installed both games already and it still happens!

I just bought Generations, YAY!, but after I installed it and I had to update my Sims 3 from 1.21.123 to 1.22.9 my game crashes. The code on my launcher for generations says 8.0.152.011001 is there a patch? I havent been able to play my generations game yet and i’ve had it for a couple of days now. Please help!!

I’ve just played on late night after installing the latest patch and it’s being really spazz. My sims keep getting stuck on objects and then they can’t do anything else. One’s stuck playing the guitar, but still managed to talk on the phone and he can’t move or do anything. It said he was sleeping instead. While my other sim went to make something, but then stopped, but now the bowl of food is stuck and he can’t cook anything else and he’s getting really down. PLEASE HELP!

I just downloaded to the latest patch after there was this whole fiasco about the game launcher not loading. I ordered these two new expansions (Ambitions & Late Night) and I got them today. After I downloaded and the launcher and downloads work fine, I put the discs into the computer to install. But whenever I am done going through the installation steps, and it “gathers files” it crashes!!! this happened with both discs and I have tried installing both multiple times. I am VERY excited to play with the new towns and all, so PLEASE HELP SOON!!!

Ok, so here’s what happened to me….
After one of the previous updates (can’t remember which one, but probably just before this one) I start getting a warning from my Windows that there was something wrong with the launcher, but I could still play the game just fine. (lol my laptop has premonitions>.<) Then yesterday I installed The Sims 3 Generations and Late Night Expansion Packs (and The Sims Medieval but thats a whole other problem…i pray TT.TT) and not the launcher tells me that there's no disk when there is a disk (my computer even asks me what to do with it when I take it out and put it back in).

You need to manually download a patch. For some reason, EA did something wrong and the update wasn’t sent out.

I manually installed the 1.19 update, since I dont have an internet connection on my pc right now – I downloaded it on a different computer and then transfered it to mine and then installed it that way.
It says it has succesfully installed yet on the launcher it says my current version is still 1.4.6
I dont have any expansion packs.
Also, because of this I cannot open create a world as it says my base game update isnt compatible – I’m assuming once I’ve solved the first problem then the second will be resolved also?

I have a problem. When I go in the Sims 3 launcher and try to update, it takes me to a page on the website that says the update page does not exist. And when I manage to get onto the update page in the launcher, the latest update it shows there is from 2010.
When I go to that same update page in my browser (Mozilla Firefox) it shows the current update.

I just accepted the last update, and ever since then, I can do any customizations in the game. It wont let me change the fabrics, wallpaper, or anything from the current textile it is on. For EXAMPLE: I am trying to change a wallpaper, and it wont let me chose anything other than paint to put on the walls, no fabric, skins, metal, etc. AND my game is super slow. Because of this, I don’t even want to play it any more.

Hey, I have a problem when trying to patch my game. I opened up the launcher and it had an update so I of course let it update. When it was almost done it said I had do disc space available, so I cleaned out that disk drive and went back to the launcher and tried the update again. A window came up saying ” Please update your game via the game launcher”, but when I go to the update tab of the launcher it says it is up to date, and I don’t know where to update it if I can’t from the game launcher. Eugh, that’s really annoying. For the slow speed, I recommend trying a game booster – there isn’t much else I can say, I don’t know exactly what EA have done with the patch and what files have been edited, but check out this software to speed it up. For the speed glitch, I have never heard of it. Like I say with most people, I will keep on the look out and report back if I see any news.

I just downloaded the patch as well, and my sim has grown more and more unhappy as I’ve played. He is “Uncomfortable” and yet all of this moodlets are up, he’s fulfilling desires and on an adventure. I hope this isn’t permanent.
Two, when are they going to fix the problem with not being able to excavate anywhere? Any ideas?

Hey Meg, it seems I have heard this issue happening quite a few times now. There hasn’t been any response as of yet on what to do but I will keep my eyes peeled for any information. I hope it’s just a matter of waiting for a quick re patch but that often doesn’t happen with The Sims 3.

I had that problem with a sim who was unhappy no matter what.She was killed by a meteor. I didn’t save it. I added new deco and moved her to a different lot and she was happy.

After i installed this patch, I noticed my sims are always in a bad mood now. All of the moodlets are high and my sim is always satisfied. I have mostly all the expensive items i can possibly buy and i’m only playing the base game i don’t have any expansion packs installed or no mods just the genuine copy ov the sims 3. But even woo-hooing just raises up his mood to UNCOMFORTABLE :( please help!

Oh wow.. what I can suggest is that you hold it out and wait for the next patch. I would try and begin a new game and see if you still get the glitch. If so, I don’t want to suggest a reinstall but that may have to be the case. Try and play a new game and see what happens, let me know and I’ll see if I can continue too help.

You have the latest version, you don’t need to apply any patch – World Adventures is currently at version 2.14. Unless I misunderstood your question, you’re all good.

I have updated the base game to version 1.19 and now I can’t install Sims 3 World Adventures. I know I have to update the version of WA, but I can’t since it isn’t intsalled, and I can’t install it.
Every time I try to install it, it freezes while it’s installing file 7, for some reason.
Since i’ve been warned the versions may not be compatible, I uninstalled and reinstalled the base game, then tried to install Sims 3 WA. However, it won’t install any files at all.
Now I don’t know how to install it. To update it, I need it to be installed, but to install it, I need it to be updated.

My sims does the same thing almost. i installed sims 3 and the world adverntures once already and then onetime when i went to use it, it wouldnt open up. So i deleted all my sims and uninstalled all of it i thought. but then when i try to install sims three again it says i cant because the version i already have on my computer is a newer one and i looked everywhere on my computer and cant find another sims. If any one can help comment please!!!!

I know that with older versions of The Sims, if you uninstalled, in order to re-install, you had to delete the Sims file from your registry.

Ever since I downloaded the latest patch, my game won’t open. My mac comes up with the message “The application The Sims 3 Ambitions can’t be opened -1712″

I looked around on other websites and some say that the application (this is for regular mac applications) has timed out. On another it says that we should go on the application and force quit however, it doesn’t seem to work with sims™ 3.

When I installed the new patch for The SIMSTM 3 (PATCH 1.22.9) Everything works well, except when I place a family in a house, I click the check-mark and the loading screen pops up for loading the family when you placed them in the house. When the screen pops up, nothing happens, the music still plays, but no action and the screen still says: “LOADING” with the spinning diamond on top. PLEASE HELP, patch 1.22.9 wont work for after create a sim!

when i tried opening up my sims3 game launcher, the new path notification popup was there and so i tried to click yes to install it and it just gave me a “ding” noise like that button is unclickable? and behind is on the game launcher anywhere i press it will just make the same dinging noise, i cant push any button that has to do with the game, i can’t even exit out, i have to start up the task manager and close it like that, whats the deal? can anyone help me?

Well Connor the same thing is happening to me and right about down i feel like uninstalling sims 3 forever!!!! It is sooo annoying. i would reinstall it but i do not have my activation code any more so i might just get rid of sims for good cause it is a big piece of JUNK

For some reason my sims 3 world adventures won’t let me travel. It doesn’t even give me the option to travel. I’ve installed it on a laptop & a desktop & I can’t travel on either. Should I uninstall both games & reinstall them or is it my game?

Hello, so my friend has recently lent me her sims expansion packs, So I’ve installed them on my computer.. I installed Ambitions last so that I keep that and play them all, however it is asking for the disc for generations? Even though thats not the last expansion pack I installed. Is there a way where i can play them all with the ambitions disc?

I tried that before too. I have all of the Sims game ever put out. It doesn’t go by the last game you installed. It goes by the last that came out that you have. So you will have to take off ambitions if that’s the last game you have that The Sims made.

I have just recently updated my game, to the latest update and when I try to play it is says my game is not compatible with the new expansion packs. It tells me to update my game in the game launcher but it will not let me update my game. It says my game is up to date! help!

My sim game used to let me change thre names at the city hall, and now it wont i have all the latest updates please help me!? I made a sim named grease lightning as a joke, and now he has a serious family and for some reason i cant change his name :((((

I am having trouble with everyhting about sims i just want to start all over again and complete delete all files then reinstall it. every time i try it says that i must save the next disc in the same folder that i saved sims 3 in but i just want to start again.

I am confused. I am trying to install my Sims 3 on to my desk top and it says I have new patches available and would I like to download them. I hit yes and then it doesnt do anything or go away. It stays on whatever I am doing and I can’t play. Please help!

I just reinstalled my Sims game and all 6 of my expansion packs. the game launcher does not work. I have to go into program files and open it that way. I am apparently not the only one having this problem. Alot of blame is falling on the latest update to the game launcher so my question is when are you or your team going to fix this? It’s pretty disappointing when I PAY alot of money for a game and it says there is an error and I am unable to play it without using a back door.
