The Sims 4 Expressions and Emotions
It’s not a secret that The Sims 4 team are focusing their attention on the Sims themselves, and I am overwhelmed with excitement and ideas as to what we could expect. As quoted from The Sims 4 announcement:
The Sims 4 celebrates the heart and soul of the Sims themselves, giving players a deeper connection with the most expressive, surprising and charming Sims ever in this single-player offline experience.
This is exciting. Just before I continue, I want to say that this post is complete speculation and you should not take any of this information as fact. As I was saying, this is extremely exciting. No more false reactions, no more dull faces, no more halfhearted conversations. I expect that The Sims 4 will take a huge leap forward and completely change the way we play with our Sims as we can actually see how our Sims are feeling and what emotions are being experienced.
Urosh, a member on our community forums, posted a very interesting observation today. I’m sure all of you are aware of the P. Kelly conspiracy. If not, to cut it short, this man was an employee of EA for a short while and has been a source of many rumours surrounding The Sims 4. Whilst I personally believe that most of his posts are simply made to stir information in the community, he is definitely a topic of conversation in the official forums. Please, correct me if I’m wrong.
Now, back to point, at some point in time, P. Kelly’s website linked to a post on Emotions and Facial Expression. This is a tutorial made by an individual on deviantart and due to their disclaimer, you will have to follow that link to see the full image. Although this has no official connection to EA, it’s not far off what I envision emotions and expressions to look like in The Sims 4. In addition to finding that post, Urosh has very neatly linked it to the announcement image of The Sims 4 where we can delve deeper into what these Sims are feeling. Please click the image to see it in greater detail.
So, what does this mean? Officially, nothing. I don’t want to insinuate that we will be seeing the whole range of expressions shown in that post, let alone that we will be seeing any of them at all. Unofficially, this can mean anything you want! I just felt the need to share with you all something that really fascinated me and what I hope we may be able to experience in 2014.
As always, I love to hear your responses. So, feel free to comment here with any of your views and opinions or head over to the forums where you can chat away with us for days on end.
