The Sims 3 Exchange Hits 100 Million Uploads!
This is awesome! It’s been seven months and The Official Sims 3 Exchange has already hit 100 Million uploads! That’s outstanding! I know I’ve made my contributions but I didn’t know that so many people where such fans of the Exchange. Anyway, here’s more on the topic (thanks to SimPrograms):
EA’s The Sims Studio is thrilled that The Sims 3 was named the worldwide #1 best-selling PC game of 2009*. This marks the sixth time this decade that The Sims franchise was named the best-selling PC title. The original The Sims was the bestselling PC game worldwide from 2000 to 2003, until it was dethroned by its own sequel The Sims 2, which was the best-selling PC game of 2004 and held the #2 spot for 2005 and 2006. Additionally, The Sims 3 World Adventures holds a position on the top 10 PC lists around the world.
Just Some of the Possibilities with Create a World Tool — BETA
Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, The Sims franchise and its official websites continue to thrive and provide a place for players to create, share, expand their gameplay experiences, and explore. The Sims 3 in particular has one of the strongest communities—the official website sees more than 6 million unique monthly visitors. Over 100 million pieces of content have been downloaded from the The Sims 3 Exchange in just seven months. Previously it took years to reach the 100 million marker. The Exchange enables fans to share custom content such as Sims, clothing, houses, objects and now worlds with the Create a World Tool – BETA. Registered The Sims 3 players can step into the shoes of The Sims 3 development team by using the same robust world-building tools the team uses to create worlds and towns for The Sims 3. This massive, creative tool allows players to design and build entire worlds for their Sims, or begin their creations with pre-made terrains. Once players are satisfied with their brand new world, they can then share their creations online through The Sims 3 Exchange. The tool allows for endless creative possibilities and countless new stories to be told using a brand new world, designed by the players, as the canvas!
Since the launch of the tool in December 2009, players have been creating and sharing amazing worlds that can then be used as backdrops to tell new stories and direct movies. Check out the machinima movie ‘Isle of Broken Ships’ made by The Sims 3 player Atlanas, which tells the story of a shipwrecked boy and some of the popular worlds on the Exchange including ‘Oasis Island’ by Rslong7, ‘Simtopia’ by SimsTR, and ‘Coconut Island’ by ProfPlumbob. Sims players have let their creativity and imagination run wild with the new available content and tools. Join in!
