Practice Chess, options of community lots (Medical, Bistro, Shop, Medical Center, etc…) arn't working and not showing. Taking too much CPU. Guitar Playing is not working. When I plant Apple, my game crash immediately.

There are also too many bugs in 1.8.x patch (World Adventures) :((

  5. Emma says:

!! This is uber annoying !!

All I can do is mean > scare! The only good thing about the patch is that you can get basements!

Figured out how to fix "waiting outside"-forever bug and the one where the only interaction allowed was to be mean. I deleted all files under "ModsPackages" folder (after backing it up), after which the game worked fine. I have been introducing the deleted mods back into the game several at a time until I finally narrowed it down to one of the two mods: "9 day pregnancy" and "teen marriage". I can live without both of these, but it looks like one of these is not compatible with 1.8 patch. Hope this helps others

Well, after spam-tweeting them yesterday, I got the following reply:

"We are aware of the issues and are looking into them. Please try the Customer Support "

  8. Joanna says:

I installed the 1.8 patch on the release date and since then have been unable to play. It doesn't get past the loading screen. I have TS3 installed on another compuer without this patch (previous 1.7) and it runs fine. It's been three weeks now, and they still haven't brought out a repair for all these faults? EA aren't replying to anyone or issuing any further statements, and I find their customer service disgusting!!!

I'm with the same problem than Hanna and Getafe.. Well guess we all here have it.. I was searching for solutions for this problem but now that I read this I know why this is happening.

I just can interact when I delete my "mods/packages" but houses still blue -.-

I found a video on youtube that describe exactly the blue house thing. Check this out

And seems that guy resolved the problem I sent him a message today but nothing until now.

So.. guess there isn't nothing that I can do..

Ugh. I'm having the exact same problem. I think that someone might be able to point out my error here though. So, just recently, I downloaded some custom content (ranging from hair to clothes) all from virus free sites (or so says Norton). I just downloaded yesterday the Resource.cfg file that enabled me to download those .package files. Anyways, I started downloading them like the apocalypse was coming (WinRAR is on a 40 day free trial), and I put all the .package files in the wrong area (C:Program Files/Electronic ArtsThe Sims 3GameDataSharedPackaged) Now, referring to the specified location in the last parentheses, I'm unsure as to whether the word "Packaged" was the word in that was used originally or not. I'm not even sure if that matters, but I'm trying to be as elaborative as possible. So, realizing that they were in the wrong area (thanks Wiki), I created the new folder "Mods", and under that folder had another folder as "Packages" where currently all my .packages await to be downloaded. Then I proceeded to move all the .package files into the new folder (where it was supposed to be). I recovered the original .package files that were originally in the Shared (reference back three parentheses ago) and placed them back where they needed to be. I also downloaded some .sims3pack files, but they've given me no trouble in the past. I figure that somewhere above I went wrong, but I'm no computer tech in the least, so I'm not sure where that could be. I spent an hour updating my Windows, and to no avail, it didn't work. None of the files have viruses, and everything looks as clear as it should be except for the little window popping up saying "Service initialization failed (0x039e8474)". Someone please help? I can provide more information if needed.

Ah *bleep*…it seems that I have ran into another error. The 0x03938474 has disappeared, and now has been replaced with "Unable to Start Game (0x0175dcbb)" Help…I'm a desperate soul.

So now I'm having an issue with even starting the game up. I've seen that this issue has previously been discussed before, but now there's an "error during startup: please see log" or something around those lines, and I'm sure as you all know, it freezes. I tried to go and play it through the Program Files folder, but no cigar. Ugh…I'm desperate.

All right, so I uninstalled everything using that one guide that EA provided, and cleared the system fully of TS3. I removed Custom Content, and tried to play it…ended up getting the Error 0x039e8474. Put the CC back on, and still had the error. At least I bypassed the two errors before, but I'm back right at the beginning. I also used a CCleaner, so I don't think there's much else I can do except wait for the next patch, and who knows how long that will take? I'm obviously not the only one who is upset about this either."

I posted this on a different board, and I'm not having much luck. I really don't think that cleaning the drive and what not is going to do anything. It's this darn patch and the stupid installation of that in-game store application. All we can do is rant and wait until the next patch comes out that will hopefully fix the game.

Did anyone else not seriously notice that this problem arose a while back in like June?

I posted this on TS3 site…haven't heard any helpful responses, other than to clean my drive, which doesn't work, and before anyone even asks, my game is legit. Fifty dollars too legit if you ask me…

When I went to visit a Sims house I did not get an answer so I went home. Now when ever I try to take care of my Sims needs it crosses that box out up in the top left corner and tells we to wait to be let in by one of the residents of the house I was visiting. The problem is now I cant do anything not even cook, and I'm no longer at the persons house that I was trying to get into. Has anyone else experienced this problem and if so do you know how to fix this problem?

  12. JJ says:

    Happy New Year Nick

Yep, I'm still around but have not been playing as I've been plagued with glitches. Those last 2 patches were horrid. It made it no fun anymore BUT I will wait and see if the next one makes it better. Its no good going on the EA forums there is one person who goes on and on about CC and blames every darn glitch on it. Well I don't download from anywhere except the Exchange and EA seems to be still advertising it.

In the meantime I am playing a EA game DragonAge which needs way more computer and it runs like a charm. Go figure that.

Come on Sims 3 I miss you. :)

    • Nick says:

      Hi JJ!

Long time no talk :P – It's nice to see your upbeat way of looking at it (even though it's blooming annoying)

Hope you have a Happy New Year also!

  13. Marissa says:

I have the same problem as you, Emma! All my Sims can do is scare other Sims, and if music is on they can dance with other Sims. That's about it. It's super annoying.

Have you figured out how to fix it yet? :P

  14. Emma says:

    Love The Sims 2.

    Hate The Sims 3.

I mean it was awesome now its annoying! All I can do is mean > scare!

    Help mee!

  15. Bill says:

This is what happens when big companys (EA) take the good products from the small companys (maxis) in the name of better marketing and bigger recources. In the end the product is always ruined!

  16. Getafe says:

I was using Riverview and then I installed the patch and now the games save (Riverview) is gone/not being read… The game don't exist anymore. The town has been wiped.. and I am clever and I did keep a backup of everything and it still don't work even when using the backup… It's as if the core programming in the new patch CAN NOT read the Riverview saves files… I would love this to be fixed cus until it has I can not play sims at all… and being this close to Christmas I need something to pass the time and my mind… so this is hella anoying yall :(

    • Nick says:

      This is getting slightly ridiculous.

Sorry guys, there isn't anything I can do to help. If you all continue sharing your problems, I could try and pass them on to EA and see if they could deal with them but knowing EA, it's not really going to happen.

Let's just hope that by next year, things may be sorted out.

  17. Ashleigh says:

Geeze, this patch is getting nowhere near my game. Ever.

  18. Hannah says:

I just installed the 1.8 patch, and now my Sims can't enter houses or interact with other Sims. If I have my Sim visit another household, they'll "wait outside" forever. The Sim inside the house won't ever answer the door. I even tried switching households so I could place the Sim outside to greet the visiting Sim, but they could not interact at all.

The Sims in the active household can interact with each other, but all they can do is "Mean>Scare" each other. So that's pretty stupid…

    Screw this patch.

Can't they just test the patch before they release it? Really.

  19. Sandralu says:

I had just installed this new patch and my games are gone! Can't find downloads either.

Stay away from it, it's dangerous!

  20. Mai says:

I just finished upgrading every inch of my house when I realized it has been quite a while since I last saved. So I went to save my game – and 30 minutes roll by and my game was still saving. Scared that I was going to lose all of the upgrades I just did, I waited it out. 1 hr rolls by and now I know that my game is screwed. I had exited the game and reloaded my game only to find out that all of the houses are now blue squares. :-( I'm contemplating on smashing my game into a thousand pieces because it's pissing me off!

  21. Ashleigh says:

    Big surprise. *eyeroll*

Glad I never updated my game. I know better now. I wait until all the problems with the patch have been corrected before installing, which is ridiculous, since the patches are supposed to eliminate glitches in the first place, not create more glitches!

  22. felly says:

Damn, yeah I'm feelin ya niakori. Can't get my object sets installed, hope they'll fix it. And YES, I've tried everything.

  23. niakori says:

I'm not surprised, EA seems the be the only thing killing my love for the Sims.
